Springfield Avenue hosted the second annual HarvestFest on October 30th. Amazing local bands had the crowd rocking, while stilt walkers and balloon artists kept the kids smiling.
HarvestFest was the culminating event in a month-long series presented by the Partnership to help inform local residents and visitors to Maplewood’s Springfield Avenue Business District about the importance of early breast cancer detection and treatment. Churrasco Hosts Taste for the Cure Event on Springfield Avenue |

Maplewood, N.J., October 22, 2010 – Local community members mingled with guests from beyond the Maplewood/South Orange area, sipping wines from around the world and savoring great tapas and other fine cuisine at a Taste for the Cure event hosted by Churrasco Restaurant and the Liquor Cabinet on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood. The event was organized by the Springfield Avenue Partnership as part of its month-long series to support breast cancer awareness and raise funds during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The debut performance of Broads’way, led by Susan Leone, the owner of Jazzberries on Springfield Avenue, added a fun and festive edge to an event with a serious purpose. “I have a few cancer survivors in my family, as well as some who did not make it,” noted Sherri Mitchell of Montclair. She attended the event with her friend Sonia Moore of Maplewood, a fan of Churrasco’s take-out service who had come inside for a meal for the first time because of the event. “It’s a wonderful time and a great opportunity to meet people while supporting a good cause,” Mitchell concluded.
